Despite this eerie state of dilapidation, one can still find a sense of beauty and joy in this house’s rich colours and textures. It looks staged but it was photographed as it was found. Stuffed toys hanging from the house remind us of childhood and leave us to ponder how all spaces and moments are fleeting and transient.

This piece is part of Adam’s “Abandoned Spaces” series that explores the beauty that can be found in the decay of all dilapidated places.

The reverse acrylic subframe provides a sleek and contemporary finish to this piece. This framing technique involves a fine art C-Type photographic print mounted between a sheet of perspex and an aluminium-backing sheet. It removes the need for a heavy frame, eliminates unwanted light reflections and comes with a subframe on the back, making it easy to hang (it is much lighter than a frame with glass). It also allows the piece to sit virtually flush to a wall when hung, adding to its modern aesthetic.
