Light pours in to this former concert venue and school hall from grand glass windows, illuminating a venue forgotten in time. An Ornate ceiling now peels and formerly plush seats gradually succumb to the greater power of nature. The sounds of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and others who once played are now nothing but faint echoes. Our eyes drawn to a stage that is full of memories.

This piece is part of Adam’s “Abandoned Spaces” series that explores the beauty that can be found in the decay of all dilapidated places.

The reverse acrylic subframe provides a sleek and contemporary finish to this piece. This framing technique involves a fine art C-Type photographic print mounted between a sheet of perspex and an aluminium-backing sheet. It removes the need for a heavy frame, eliminates unwanted light reflections and comes with a subframe on the back, making it easy to hang (it is much lighter than a frame with glass). It also allows the piece to sit virtually flush to a wall when hung, adding to its modern aesthetic.
